presented June 15, 2003
by Pastor Tony Tietz and Bob Murray

Intro:

"Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. [38] This is the first and greatest commandment. [39] And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:37-39 (New International Version)

I. Heart for one another.

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. [2] This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. [3] This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, [4] for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. [5] Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."
I John 5:1-5 (New International Version)

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. [35] By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
John 13:34-35 (New International Version)

II. Heart for the loveless.

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' [44] But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, [45] that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. [46] If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? [47] And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? [48] Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Matthew 5:43-48 (New International Version)

III. "Showing all" some Heart

"Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."
Philippians 4:5 (New International Version)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16 (New International Version)

IV. "Don't lose the Heart."

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9 (New International Version)

"Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
Hebrews 12:3 (New International Version)

Conclusion

"Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done."
Revelations 22:12 (New International Version)
