The Rejection of God's Planby Pastor Ken Kady 1. Listen (VV 16-18) To what God says concerning Jesus. 16But not all the Israelites accepted(listen intently with the desire to obey) the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"(Isaiah 53:1) 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. 18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." (Psalm 19:4) Romans 10:16-18 (NIV) Three motivations: Men love darkness rather than light - This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 3:19 (NIV) Men love the world over Jesus - 15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17 (NIV) Men would rather believe a lie than the truth - 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 (NIV) 1. Learn (VV 19-20) To accept what was written concerning the gospel. 19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding." (Deuteronomy 32:21) 20And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."(Isaiah 65:1) Romans 10:19-20 (NIV) [because of evil people are]7always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 2 Timothy 3:7 (NIV) People will hate us because they hated Jesus. 1. Love (VV 21) God's offer of grace. But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.(Isaiah 65:2)" Romans 10:21 (NIV) God loved us this While we were yet sinners Christ died for us - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NIV) What will you do?
